Gary Krug

Gary Vern Krug, 74, of Bad Axe and Punta Gorda, FL, passed away on Monday, April 7, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on November 9, 1950 in Bad Axe, son of the late Vern and Martha (Briolat) Krug. He married Patricia Sue Fabyan on October 11, 1969 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Bad Axe. Gary graduated from the Bad Axe High School class of 1969. Gary worked as a linesman for N.G. Gilbert Co. after High School. Then, completed a two year degree in Law Enforcement from Delta College in 1975. He worked with the Huron County Sheriff’s Department until 1977 and a couple years with Bad Axe Police Department. After his father’s death, Gary took over the Family Farm. While farming Gary got involved in many organizations: Life time member of the Bad Axe FFA, President of the Huron County Farm Bureau, President of the Huron County Corn Growers, President of the Michigan Corn Growers, the National Corn Growers State Representative of Michigan, he was on the US Feed Grain Council as a member of the NAFTA Board, an ASCS Board Member, Huron County Commissioner, and a member of the Huron Behavioral Health Board. He was able to travel all over the United States and many countries while giving his time to these organizations. In his free time, Gary and Patricia, enjoyed many cruises and traveling all over the United States with many friends. He enjoyed his farming, his children and especially his grandchildren and great-grand daughters. He loved taking his grandchildren out for chocolate milk and donuts. He was an avid golfer at Verona Hills Country Club. He enjoyed his many golfing, fishing excursions, poker nights and euchre afternoons. Gary and Patricia retired to Florida in 2016 until Gary’s health started to decline and they moved back to Michigan in 2024. His family would like to thank the Huron County Medical Care Facility for all their wonderful care especially his favorite CENA’s, Kristy, Sassy and Jesse. Gary is survived by his wife Patricia Krug of Bad Axe, Children; Robert (Michele) Krug of Bad Axe, Brian Krug of Grenora, North Dakota, Tawna Krug of Cape Coral, Florida, Grandchildren; Ashleigh Krug, Haylee (Austin) Krug, Benjamin Krug, Luke (Shaylynn) Krug, Aaliyah Thompson, Miranda Gussler and Savannah Glover, Great-Granddaughters; Chanel, Bexley, Adalynn, Everlee, and Reigan (due in April) Siblings; Joan (William) Trim of Grand Rapids, Cathy (Paul) Lerash of Bad Axe Raymond (Clara) Krug of Bad Axe and Howard (Susan) Krug of Webster, NY, In-Laws; Beth Krug of Bad Axe, Sandy Fabyan of Grove City, OH, Linda (Ralph) Brakenberry of Pigeon, Larry Maurer of Bad Axe, Robert (Angie) Fabyan of Oscoda, Mary (Mike) Thrushman of Bad Axe, Peter (Debbie) Fabyan of Bad Axe and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and for the last eight years his beloved companion, Cookie. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Vern and Martha Krug, in-laws Steven and Eileen Fabyan, Brother and Sister-in-Law Kenneth and Janis Krug, Brother Kevin Krug, Sister and Brother-in-Law, Gale and Callier Worrell, Brother-in-Law Stephen Fabyan, Sister-in-Law Pamela Maurer, Grandson Stephen Krug and Nephew Aaron Krug. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at 11 am at St. Hubert Parish – Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bad Axe. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 11, 2025 from 2 – 8 pm at the Kaufman Funeral Home in Bad Axe or on Saturday from 10 am until the service time at 11 am at the church. A scripture service will be offered on Friday at 7:30 pm at the funeral home. Memorials may be offered to the Bad Axe FFA program, Bad Axe Library, or the families discretionary fund.
