James Pulaskey
November 7, 1937 - July 2, 2017
James (Jim) Pulaskey, age 79, of Bad Axe, passed away on Sunday, July 2, 2017, surrounded by his family at McLaren Bay Region in Bay City. Jim was born on November 7, 1937 in Detroit, son of the late Edward and Emily (Michalek) Pulaskey, and raised on a dairy farm in Yale. He married Mary Louise Farrington on May 12, 1962 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Port Huron and moved to Bad Axe in 1964 where he managed the A&P grocery store. He later worked as an insurance agent in Bad Axe, Caro, and Cass City. Jim served his country in the US Army. He was a former member of the Bad Axe Jaycees, Knights of Columbus, and Bad Axe Public Library board member. He served as an usher at Sacred Heart Catholic Church for many years. He was a founding member (47 years) of the Thumb Bums Camping Club. Jim was an avid RVer and enjoyed traveling with his wife. He loved to go camping and cherished the many friends and camping family he made throughout the years. He was proud of his children and grandchildren and all of their accomplishments, taking the opportunity to share with many, especially his coffee club crew on Saturday mornings. He loved to spend time with his family and friends playing Peanuts, Pegs & Jokers, Euchre, and many other games throughout the years, as well as telling jokes, dancing an occasional polka, and just all around enjoying life. He was a genuinely good person who always greeted you with a firm handshake, kind words, and a smile. Jim is survived by: Wife-Mary Lou Pulaskey of Bad Axe. 2 Sons- Michael (Janice) Pulaskey of Bad Axe and Jared (Michelle) Pulaskey of Kimball Township, MI. 2 Daughters-Michelle (Timothy) McHale of Raleigh, NC and Karen (Nathan) Adams of Raleigh, NC. 1 Brother- Larry (Diane) Pulaskey of Lake Havasu, AZ. 5 Grandchildren-Nicholas Pulaskey of Bad Axe, Zach McMillan of Raleigh, NC, Travis Pulaskey of Kimball Township, JJ Pulaskey of Kimball Township, and Robyn Paschall of Ermo, SC. Several nieces and nephews, many extended family members, and friends. Jim was predeceased by: 1 Sister-Christine Affendikis (Petoskey). Jim’s family will receive guests for a Celebration of Jim’s life at the Kaufman Funeral Home at 84 Westland Drive in Bad Axe on Saturday, July 8, 2017 from 1-3 pm. The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of Davita Dialysis Center in Bad Axe, Fresnius Dialysis Center in Port Huron, the many health care professionals who have supported him over the years, and the Critical Care Unit at McLaren for their compassionate care and kindness in his final days.
