Magdaline Leppek
June 11, 1919 - June 1, 2021
Magdaline Frances Leppek of Bay City, formerly of Filion, was born on the family farm in Sigel Twp, Harbor Beach, MI, on June 11,1919, to Alexander & Anna (Grates) Talaski. She had a twin sister and 10 other siblings. Known as Maggie, she lived a remarkably long life, 10 days shy of her 102nd birthday. Maggie passed peacefully with her children at her side. Maggie was a daughter, a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a great grandmother, a friend to all who knew her and a Jack of all trades. There was nothing she wouldn't tackle. Maggie was a very busy lady during her 102 years. She raised 7 kids. She gardened. She helped Zig on the farm. She sorted beans. She picked pickles. She worked at a dry cleaners, a fabric store, a dry goods store and finished her working career when she retired from Walmart at age 87. She taught sewing classes and kids how to ride bikes, played the piano at Red School Christmas programs, baked bread and fed everyone who walked thru the door. She corrected us when we were wrong but always understood and never judged. She loved camping. Euchre was her game. Sewing and quilting were her passions. She was active with 4H & FFA. She enjoyed a glass of wine or some beer with chocolate. Maggie met Zigmond Leppek at the Arcadia Ballroom in Parisville. They were married on August 29, 1938. They had 7 children, followed by 27 grandchildren, 52 great grandchildren and 10 step grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Maggie was a life long parishioner at St Josephs Catholic Church in Rapson. She was active in St Anne's Rosary Sodality, youth groups and many other church organizations. She loved the Huron County Fair, supported 4H & FFA & was Homemaker of the year in 1991. Maggie provided countless lifetime memories for her family. She had a full and happy life and we are honored to celebrate it with her. Maggie was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Zigmond, and sons Leonard and Francis Leppek; her parents Alexander and Anna Talaski; her father-in-law and mother-in-law William and Eva (Danielski) Leppek; sisters Edna Peyerk, her twin Irene Gorney and Mary Ann Polega; brothers Lawrence, Frank, Thomas, Robert, Bernard and Julius Talaski; daughter-in-law Judith (Klaska) Leppek and son-in-law John (Jack) Holdwick. Maggie is survived by her children, Judith (John) Holdwick, Patricia (Kenneth) Maurer, Darlene (David) Skrocki, Daniel (Karen) Leppek, Diana (Michael) Kish and daughter-in-law Wendy (Francis) Leppek, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, her sister Margaret Woychowski and brother Carl Talaski, and many nieces & nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at 11 am at St. Hubert Parish – St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rapson. Officiating will be Fr. T.J. Fleming.
