Susan Lee Brueggeman
October 24, 1941 - October 24, 2017
Susan Lee Brueggeman, April 12 1941-October 24 2017 Susan L. Brueggeman of Lake Orion was called home on Tuesday October 24 at the age of 76 following a long illness. Susan was born April 12, 1941 in Port Huron, the daughter of Lloyd F. and Eva J. (Gilbert) Reimann, who both preceded her in death. Susan married Robert J. Brueggeman on February 6, 1960. They celebrated 28 years together in marriage until Robert’s sudden death of a massive heart attack in 1988. Susan remained steadfast in her devotion to her husband the remainder of her life. Susan was also preceded in death by her brother William F. Reimann, and sister Gretchen L. (Reimann) Carroll. Susan is survived by her son Hans M. Brueggeman and daughter-in-law Karen C. (Chupa) Brueggeman as well as her grandchildren Alexandra, Nicklas, and William Brueggeman, all of Oxford. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Michael Carroll of Saginaw and sister-in-law Judith Reimann of Bad Axe as well as two nieces, two nephews, their families, and many cousins. Susan was co-owner of the Reimann-Snyder Furniture Company, a family-owned and operated business in Bad Axe and Pigeon for 55 years. Susan and her brother William were business partners until their joint retirement in 2000. Susan was a 1959 graduate of Bad Axe High School and a 1960 graduate of Northeastern School of Commerce, formerly in Bay City. Susan served as Deputy Register of Probate for Huron County under Judge Neil McCallum from 1960 to 1968. Susan grew up in the furniture business and was called to return to that profession until her retirement. Susan was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Oxford as well as American Legion Post 108 Auxiliary in Oxford. She was a former member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Bad Axe and Cross Lutheran Church in Pigeon. Anyone who knew Susan for more than five minutes knew that she loved people and a good conversation. She loved to cook and bake and never hesitated to share her creations with her family, friends, and neighbors. She also was an avid reader and enthusiast of genealogy. Over many years, Susan had compiled a considerable library of family data and heirloom artifacts and was known as the go-to person for family history. Susan was always a woman of strong faith with a caring, compassionate, and genuine heart. Although we will deeply miss our dear mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, our hearts are happy that Susan is reunited in Heaven with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, her beloved husband, and her family members. Services will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at 11 am at the Kaufman Funeral Home in Bad Axe. Friends may call at the Kaufman Funeral Home on Friday from 1-8 pm or Saturday from 10 am until the service time at 11 am. Memorials may be offered to Heart to Heart Hospice, Leader Dogs for the Blind, Holy Cross Lutheran Church of Oxford or Our Savior Lutheran Church in Bad Axe.
